The Institute of Fiber Electronic Materials and Devices of Fudan University was established in 2023. The Institute gives full scope to the disciplinary advantages of Fudan University's science and advanced engineering disciplines, focuses on the new multidisciplinary direction of fiber electronic materials and devices, takes the new materials, multifunctional fiber devices and integration of fiber electronic system as research content, establishes the theoretical architecture of fiber devices in a systematic and comprehensive manner, pushes forward the development of the cross-disciplinary integration of materials, chemistry, information, and biology, pioneers new disciplinary directions and fosters multidisciplinary talents. The Institute focuses on the major national needs, accelerates the continuous preparation and large-scale application of fiber devices, solves the necklace problems in important industrial fields such as special fiber materials, flexible electronics, human-computer interaction, health monitoring, etc., realizes the core products, generates significant socio-economic benefits, and establishes a research platform for the whole chain of research from the discovery of brand-new theories to subversive technologies and then to major innovative products.
